Corporate Partner Spotlight: Design w/Chon
Chon graduated from a fine art college, The Cleveland Institute of Art, with a professional degree in graphic design/advertising, and a minor in photography. She spent the first five years of her career in the Chicago advertising world of which she enjoyed, and gained much knowledge in smart thinking and management for business. She started Design With Chon, a boutique design shop, late in 2009, and focuses on design in three areas: wedding/private events, home and business. She bridges graphic design and interior decor styling for special events and home through three qualities — color, texture and balance. Those three keywords reflect her approach to design, and it guides her vision to achieve good design in all its various forms. The Chicago Botanic Garden -- with its world-renowned plant collections and
displays, the Joseph Regenstein, Jr. School and the Daniel F. and Ada L.
Plant Conservation Science Center, is one of the country¹s most visited
public gardens and a preeminent center for learning and plant conservation
science research. The Chicago Botanic Garden is only one of 17 public
gardens accredited by the American Association of Museums, recognizing its
living collection of 2.3 million plants. Its mission is to promote the
enjoyment, understanding and conservation of plants and the natural world.
Located in Glencoe, Ill., the Garden's 385 acres are uniquely situated on
nine islands surrounded by 81 acres of water, which includes 60 acres of
lakes. Visitors can stroll through 25 spectacular display gardens and four
natural habitats as well as enjoy the Garden Café, Garden Shop, narrated

As a " life-stylist" I not only work with client's to provide interior design services to their residential and commercial spaces, but also design and style everything from special events to personal wardrobes. My work also includes photo shoot set-design for everything from furniture to fashion.
From a very young age, I knew design would be a part of my life forever. After starting a small interior design and landscaping business while in High School, I continued on obtaining a degree in interior design and architecture. I moved to Chicago soon after graduation, where I worked as the showroom and prototype manager for a high-end special events design firm, Kehoe Designs. With four years under my belt at Kehoe, I got to design and work on many of the biggest events in the city. The time had finally come to go back to my roots, and start my own company, Benjamin Cottrell Designs. I have expanded my business from interior design to life-style design. My most recent accomplishments have been the completion of a large dentist's office, a condo on the 70th floor of the magnificent Trump Tower, styling photo shoots for Cafe Magazine and Michigan Avenue Magazine, working with great causes such as the Aparecio Foundation, and of course continuing to build relationships and respect throughout the design community.
