Chicago, IL: Several of Chicago's top designers are teaming up for a trunk show to benefit The Apareció Foundation (www.apareciofoundation.org) at Dragonfly Mandarin, 832 W. Randolph St. in Chicago, IL, on Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 6-8pm. The Apareció Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charity, assisting low income, high potential women in Chicago Public High Schools. Utilizing a group-mentoring model, the student mentoring initiative creates opportunities for our women scholars to connect with professional women from a wide range of industries over the course of six years. Our long-term mentoring relationships, four year renewable scholarship, foreign language and volunteer program provide opportunities for both experiential learning and advanced professional development. These transformational interactions result in enduring and empowering changes by instilling confidence and credibility in our young women.

Proceeds from ticket sales as well as 10% of all product sales from the designers will be donated to The Apareció Foundation.

Minority Graduation Rates

"Nationally, about 71 percent of all students graduate from high school on time with a regular diploma, but barely half of African American and Hispanic students earn diplomas with their peers. In many states the difference between white and minority graduation rates is stunning; in several cases there is a gap of as many as 40 or 50 percentage points."

The Apareció Foundation thanks our partners for their generous support.
