Health Track

In preparation for the Apareció Girls 5K Run/Walk scholars will experience the challenge of maintaining a training schedule. Activities include: step aerobics, fitness machines, outdoor workouts, weight training, meditation and kayaking. Proper techniques and safety are emphasized, as well as, nutrition. Scholars will have the opportunity to design a cookbook featuring all of their favorite healthy recipes. Sales from the cookbook will go towards the Apareció Annual Fund and will be available online and at the Auxiliary Boards fundraiser with a celebrity chef. This is a Summer Start Program.

Enrollment Rates

Enrollment rates of racial/ethnic minority and low-income high school graduates continue to lag behind those of middle- and higher-income students. Among students who plan to attend a four-year college, racial/ethnic minority students are much more likely to end up attending a two-year college or not attending college at all.
